Yabbies
Yabbies are an endemic species of crayfish that live in dams around the area. East of the Namoi River, where also Platypusses live that might also be caught and accidentally killed, trapping Yabbies is prohibited, unless the traps are modified to prevent entry of a Platypus. Where we live, trapping is unrestricted.

There is the occasional tiny scorpion as well - the one shown in the photo is about 2 cm in length.
