Astronomical sky photos
During visits to observatories I have obtained a number of astronomical photos and nighttime photos of telescopes, partly with sky background. These I have now scanned. Low-resolution scans are displayed so as to take up little disk space.
Astronomical photos
These were taken - with my film/camera - by, or with substantial help by, Stefan Binnewies and his friends (external link) during an observing run at La Silla in 1989. All photos were taken with Agfa 1000 RS colour slide film.
- Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC)
- Orion constellation (Orion)
- Scorpius region (lambda Sco)
- Eta Carinae (eta Car)
- Gum nebula (Gum)
- Canis major region (Can maj)
- Centaurus region(omega Cen / Cen A)
- M45/planets constellation (M45)
Stellar track photos
All of these were also taken with an Agfa 1000 RS colour slide film.
- La Silla ESO/Danish 1.54-m stellar track
- La Silla stellar track with domes
- La Silla short stellar track with domes in moonlight
Nighttime telescope photos
These photos were mostly taken with a Fujichrome, later Fuji Sensia, 100 ASA colour slide film. Some of these photos are also used on the pages describing the astronomical observatories shown.
- SEST in moonlight (1)
- SEST in moonlight (2)
- SEST in moonlight (3)
- Calar Alto 1.23-m at sunset
- ESO 3.6-m in moonlight
- ESO/Danish 1.54-m stellar track (see above)
- Pico Veleta at night
- Jodrell Bank Mark II at night
- Effelsberg at night
- ATCA at night
- Parkes at night
- OVRO interferometer at night
- CTIO at night
Eclipses/transits
I have now posted some basics about Solar eclipses, based on photos taken by me. The early photos were taken with a Fuji Sensia 100 ASA colour slide film, the new ones with a digital camera with 12x optical zoom.
- Total lunar eclipse of 28 August 2007 (New South Wales, Australia)
- Comet McNaught (C/2006 P1) (New South Wales, Australia)
- Mercury transit of 9 November 2006 (New South Wales, Australia)
- Venus transit of 8 June 2004 (Dwingeloo, Netherlands)
- Total lunar eclipse of 4 May 2004 (New South Wales, Australia)
- Total solar eclipse of 11 July 1991 (central Mexico)
Miscellanei
- Moon (photos taken from Narrabri, New South Wales, Australia)
- Sun with a sunspot (photo taken from Narrabri, New South Wales, Australia)
- Mt. Robson at night (British Columbia, Canada)
